Toby Simpson – Chief Technology Officer

Toby is a seasoned Games Development professional with 23 years’ programming experience in various computer languages from 6502 machine code to C++. In ’96, he joined the CyberLife Technology division of Millennium and produced and directed the hugely successful Creatures series of products. During this time, he wrote two books about Creatures and the science and technology behind it, along with several white papers on Artificial Life and Virtual Reality which he presented at conferences across the globe.

Toby left CyberLife (which had become Creature Labs by that time) as Chief Technology Officer to work on the AliceServer technology. Toby believes that in the near future, very large-scale networked environments will become increasingly hard to distinguish from reality itself. Nice Tech was formed to develop and exploit the key technologies required to create these “Holodecks” and to create a range of entertaining (and profitable) networked products along the way.
